Our Journey!

We are on an amazing journey and we are not alone!

In Psalms 23, David hears the voice of God's Holy Spirit reassuring him that he is never alone, He is always with him, and inspires him to write that encounter out for us in David's own words!  Isn't this amazing! God's promises written out for us by a man that needed to bow and receive, just like we do, all that God has provided in Himself, for our journey.

Psalms 23
The Lord is my Shepherd;  I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.  He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.  My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.  NLV

God's presence has been made tangible to us in so many ways here at Tumaini Children's Home.  His encouragement has taken so many forms and faces.  We do not know where to start thanking most times but for this blog we would like to share the story of just a couple of great encourager's to Tumaini.

This is Rosie and Megan Lasseter.  Rosie (9 years) and Megan (11 years) are residents of the UK.  During their school holiday their family planned a cycling trip going on the Great Glen Way in Scotland ( Fort William to Inverness ).

After seeing pictures of Tumaini Children's Home, they decided to do their trip sponsored.  They completed the ride in less than three days, amazing!  The money they received, they sent here, to help the children at Tumaini.
We are so grateful and overwhelmed with the incredible evidence of God's love in their hearts to help children in need from another country.
When we shared this with all the children of Tumaini, they had so many questions and began immediately to pray for Rosie, Megan and their family.
It changed how they thought about them selves in such away that they started asking questions about other children in Kenya and even other countries, who do not have a home like theirs and how they might be able to do what Rosie and Megan did for them, for others.
Proverbs 20:11 " Even children are known by the way they act" .
We are so grateful Rosie and Megan for your selfless act of giving.  What a wonderful example of Christ's Love you are and have shown to all of us here at Tumaini Children's Home.  We know that God's blessings are continues for such as yourselves!
We pray you will continue to encourage and help other children see what God's love can accomplish through His Children!

Rosie's heart was very much touched for our Debby. The girl's gift will go to help in our new School Room Project where Debby is attending 2nd year Kindergarten.

Right now we have 15 students that attend our on site ACE Mission School.  We are about to enter our 3rd term of school here in Kenya and will complete this year on November 29th 2013.
Our new year will begin January 2014 and we will have 20 students in our on site school!  The 1 room ( that is partitioned for 1st grade and kindergarten ) we are using right now is about 340 sq ft.
We converted the carport area to accommodate the school when we moved in, but that was almost 2 years ago and we are growing so quickly we no longer fit.

Dad Horace has drawn out plans and is doing the official paperwork for the city inspections and approval on a new school room in faith that the money donated by Rosie and Megan will be grown by others into what we need for our 600 sq ft  School building with 2 rooms.  This will be our site!

This is in the back of our house, we have received permission from our landlord to remove the hedge and build a 15x40 temporary building ( because it is leased land and everything that is built must be temporary ) that will house 2 class rooms and a small office space.
We are very excited, our school is doing so well!  The 1st grade class ( Dama 8, Jewel 6, Sarah 5, Gabriel 5 ) have met all their goals this year and are now reading and writing!!!  6 students from 2nd Year Kindergarten, including Debby, will go into 1st Grade in 2014.
We Praise God for meeting our every need and providing all of Himself to accomplish what He has called us here to do!

Thank you everyone who support us with your Prayers, Finances and encouragements.  We so love and appreciate all of you being with us on our Journey.  We pray for you and know that God's presence is with you in your journey as well.
